This is such a common question, and one of the most complex questions to answer. Like how long is a piece of string?, or how much will it cost to buy a car kind of complex question.

Firstly, an experienced preserver does not really need to know what type of flowers you used or were given on your occasion. They should be experienced and confident to handle all types and condition of flowers that are trusted with them.

What they want to know is how big is your bouquet? not how many flowers are in it, like a comparison size like …. Would it be the size of a dinner plate if you looked at it from an aerial view (birds eye) if it’s a bunch/ posy? Or if it’s a teardrop/ cascading one? (long) how long is it? Inches or cm. 20 flowers can vary in size by 20-30cm, this will change the size of frame or piece required to create your design. Even roses vary in size from a very small bud to a very large bloom not to mention the length.

Are you wanting a piece of art for your wall? Using just the flowers, Or are you wanting to display many keepsakes? That can remind you of your day such as a marriage certificate, invite, photos, charms, jewellery etc. N.B. This will make your frame larger depending on the size of your cherished items.

What is the condition of your flowers? Are they a day old or are they weeks old? This will determine if your bouquet require restoration or replacement flowers. Please note that the better the condition of the flowers the better they’ll preserve and display. Or is your bouquet so big that you would only like to use the best blooms or only some of the flowers? This is absolutely possible.

The last question, which is one of the most important ones, would be; What type of preservation are you looking for? 3D, pressing or resin. All 3 are very different and require different types of preservation. All of which have different costing.

The best place to start is to gather inspiration and determine what you’d really love on your wall or buffet or as a piece. Then, ask all the questions you have to a preserver. If they are experienced, they will be able to provide you with all the answers you need and you will be assured your treasured flowers are in good hands.
